From Colombo via Ambepussa, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Palugaswewa, Galkadawala. Or from Airport/Negombo, via Giriulla, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Palugaswewa, Galkadawala. Or From Airport/Negombo, Putlam, Anuradhapura, Maradankadawala, Palugaswewa, Galkadawala. Either route will take approx 4 – 5 hours.
At Habarana Town - take the road to the left that is the Palugaswewa/Anuradhapura road and, proceed 6km to arrive at Palugaswewa junction. Then take the road to the left , proceed 4½ km to Galkdawala Forest Lodge. This will take approx 15 minutes.
From the Colombo Central Bus Stand in Pettah, Polonnaruwa/Battcaloa (Route 48) and Trincomalee (Route 49) buses pass Habarana.
Bus Route No. 48 – Colombo/Pettah, via Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa.
Bus Route No. 49 – Colombo/Pettah via Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Kantale and Trincomalee. From Habarana take a tuk tuk to Galkadawala.
The same bus routes are operated by both government and private bus operators. Examples of some destination boards of buses are given below :-
From the Colombo Fort Railway station, the Batticaloa/Trincomalee Train which leaves daily at 6.10am a.m. will arrive at PALUGASWEWA Railway Station at 11.00 a.m. A tuk tuk will bring you to Galkadawala Forest Lodge which is only 3km away. If you keep us informed in advance a tuk tuk can be arranged to pick you up at the railway station.
The Train from Batticaloa/Trincomalee on it’s way to Colombo stops at PALUGASWEWA at 9.30 a.m. daily. A tuk tuk may be taken, as above.
There are a number of domestic air services. Please check the internet for details. You can fly to Sigiriya by a Light Airplane or Helicopter. We can arrange your pick up from the air field.
